The Jealvox Sound Monitors

Sorry for the old picture where the Jealvox Sound Monitors are hidden
behind a pair of Klipsch Heresy. A new picture will follow soon.

I am lucky to have - and to have room for - a pair of Jealvox Sound Monitor three-way horn speakers from the late '70s.

The speakers were designed by a Danish engineer Jens A. Jürgensen as a 16 year long DIY project.

Apparently Jürgensen was inspirerede by – and longed for - Klipsch horn speakers as eg. Klipsch Belle (note: the Jealvox are bigger than Belles).

After he got the speakers up and running, the rumour of their sound spread and audio enthusiasts came by his house at Funen to listen to them.

Eventually the Jealvox Sound Monitors and their story where presented in the Danish audio magazine High Fidelity in 1976: After 16 years the result was finally a real horn

Many of those who heard the Jealvox Sound Monitor wanted their own pair and eventually Jürgensen was convinced to publish a building instruction in three parts in High Fidelity magazine.

Here are the articles in - sometimes -quite big pdf-files. But all in Danish!

Part 1: How to build Jealvox Sound Monitors - a three-way horn system

Part 2: Middle tone and treble horn for Jealvox Sound Monitor

Part 3: Construction of the base horn of Jealvox Sound Monitor

Here is a follow-up article in High Fidelity from 1978: 350 visits in less than two year

And here are some ads advertising parts or even ready to play Jealvox Sound Monitors High Fidelity 1978-79

Here are some pictures (not mine) of the building of a pair of Jealvox Sound Monitors: www.hifigalleri.dk
